he presented; for when he narrated it from the two Shaykhs and others, he also narrated the path of Ṭalq ibn Ḥabīb and Nuʿaym al-Mujmir, without clarifying the difference between their narration and that of the two Shaykhs which Ibn Ḥibbān narrated! and if this indicates anything, it indicates either inexperience, or a lack of understanding or discernment!

- (soon a small man will be appointed over them, and a group with shaven heads and white garments will gather around him, and when he commands them to do something, they will attend). It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr", and through him by Abū Nuʿaym in "Maʿrifat al-Ṣaḥābah" (2/40/2): Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Najdah narrated to us: My father narrated to us: Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated from Ṣafwān ibn ʿAmr from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr from his father, who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wazāj was an early Companion, and he narrated to us that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. Then it was the will of your Lord that ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wazāj was appointed over some cities, and a group of dehqāns with shaven heads and white garments gathered around him, and when he commanded them to do something, they attended, and he would say: Allāh and His Messenger have spoken the truth! I said: This is a good Shāmī isnād. And al-Haythamī said (6/212): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and its men are trustworthy." I said: All of them are mentioned in "al-Tahdhīb". It was also narrated by Abū Mūsá al-Madīnī through al-Ṭabarānī, as in "al-Iṣābah"; and he said: "And his saying: 'they attended'; meaning: they hastened in walking." And his saying: (Wazāj) appeared in "al-Maʿrifah" and "Asad al-Ghābah" with a zāy and jīm! And it was noted in "al-Iṣābah" with a heavy rāʾ then a neglected ḥāʾ
