It was also recorded by Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in "al-Ikhwān" (61/16) through the route of Abū al-Muḥayyāh from Manṣūr with it. I said: This isnād is authentic; its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, and al-Ḥāfiẓ remained silent about it in "al-Fatḥ" (1/62), and he attributed it to al-Nasāʾī. However, the phrase "and hates for the sake of Allāh" is unusual, as the ḥadīth has been narrated through various routes from Anas with the wording: "and that he loves a person only for the sake of Allāh"; hatred was not mentioned. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (16 and 21), and Muslim (1/48) through two routes, and Muslim added a third, and al-Nasāʾī and others a fourth; all from Anas without mentioning hatred. However, I found two other routes in which this addition appears, so I became reassured about it, and it is thus not considered anomalous: the first is from Saʿīd ibn Abī Maryam: Mūsá ibn Yaʿqūb al-Zamʿī informed us that Abū al-Ḥuwayrith ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muʿāwiyah informed him that Nuʿaym ibn al-Mujmir informed him that Anas ibn Mālik informed him of it. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in his three "Muʿjams": "al-Kabīr" (1/224/724), "al-Awsaṭ" (5/469/4902), and "al-Ṣaghīr" (p. 150 - Hind); and he said: "No one narrated it from Abū al-Ḥuwayrith except Mūsá, and Ibn Abī Maryam was unique in narrating it." I said: He is trustworthy, but al-Zamʿī and Abū al-Ḥuwayrith have weakness in terms of memory, as I clarified in "al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr" (no. 52), so they are used as supporting evidence.
