Maḥbūb ibn Mūsá: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak narrated to us from Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt from Ḥabīb ibn Abī Thābit from Abū Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) asking him, so the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) borrowed for him half a measure and gave it to him. The man came to demand it back, so he gave him a full measure and said: ... and he mentioned it. al-Būshanji, who is a trustworthy memorizer, was corroborated with a more complete version, as al-Bazzār said in "his Musnad" (2/103-104/1306 - Kashf al-Astār): Muḥammad ibn Abī Ghālib narrated to us: Abū Ṣāliḥ al-Farrāʾ narrated to us with it, and his wording was: A man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) demanding repayment, having lent him half a measure, so he gave him a full measure and said: "Half a measure for you, and half a measure from me." Then the owner of the measure came to demand it, so he gave him two measures, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "A measure for you, and a measure from me." al-Bazzār said: "We do not know anyone who narrated it from Ḥabīb like this except Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt, and no one from him except Ibn al-Mubārak." I said: And all of them are trustworthy men of the two Shaykhs, except Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt; he is among the men of Muslim, and there is slight criticism about him, as indicated by the ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful, ascetic, perhaps he made mistakes." Therefore, al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (3/20/14): "al-Bazzār narrated it, and its isnād is good, if Allāh wills."
