and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (1/468/851) from Sunayd ibn Sulaymān; all three of them from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Muʾammil from Ḥumayd, the client of ʿAfrāʾ, from Qays ibn Saʿd, from Mujāhid, from Abū Dharr: that he took hold of the ring of the Kaʿbah's door and said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: ... and he mentioned it. Al-Ṭabarānī said: "No one narrated it from Qays ibn Saʿd except Ḥumayd ibn Qays al-Aʿraj, and ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Muʾammil al-Makhzūmī was unique in narrating it!" Thus he said! However, he was followed up as will come; so wait. These three were contradicted by Saʿīd ibn Sālim al-Qaddāḥ, who said: from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muʾammil from Ḥumayd, the client of ʿAfrāʾ, from Mujāhid with it; he did not mention: Qays ibn Saʿd. It was recorded by Ibn Khuzaymah in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (4/226/2748), and Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (4/137). Ibn Khuzaymah said: "I am doubtful about Mujāhid hearing from Abū Dharr." I said: Perhaps the basis of this doubt is what was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī (7/289), and through his route, al-Bayhaqī said: Muḥammad ibn Yūnus al-ʿUṣfūrī narrated to us: Muḥammad ibn Mūsá al-Ḥarashī narrated to us: al-Yasaʿ ibn Ṭalḥah al-Qurashī—from the people of Mecca—said: I heard Mujāhid say: It reached us that Abū Dharr said ... and he mentioned the ḥadīth in a very abbreviated form with the wording: "There is no prayer after ʿAṣr except in Mecca." But al-Yasaʿ ibn Ṭalḥah is very weak, as al-Bukhārī and Abū Zurʿah said: "His ḥadīth is objectionable."
