from the path of Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ from him, from ʿAṭāʾ, from ʿĀʾishah, without his saying: ".. not seeking through it ostentation or reputation." And he said: "No one narrated it from ʿAṭāʾ except Kathīr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān." So she said! And it contradicts his previous narration, and what he followed it with, from al-Muthanná's corroboration of Kathīr. And Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ is weak; but he was corroborated by ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Mūsá: Kathīr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us from him and added: I said: O Messenger of Allāh! And these mosques that are on the road to Makkah? He said: "And those as well." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh" (1/1/332) - without mentioning the addition -, and al-Bazzār in "Musnad" (1/205/404), and al-ʿUqaylī in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (4/3/1554), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Shuʿab" (3/81/2939), and al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (4/13/1556). Two others corroborated him at Ibn Abī Shaybah (1/310). Al-ʿUqaylī said: "Kathīr is not corroborated in this. This is narrated with a different isnād, a better isnād than this." I said: meaning without this addition, and without the addition of (ostentation) as well, and that is from a group of Companions, among them ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), and his ḥadīth is in "al-Ṣaḥīḥayn" and others, and it is also included with others in "al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr" (883, 953, 954); and its wording: "Whoever builds a mosque for Allāh, Allāh will build for him a house in Paradise."
