When two men meet, which of them should initiate the greeting of peace? He said: "The one who is more deserving of Allāh's favor is the one who initiates the greeting of peace." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2694), who said: "This is a good ḥadīth." I say: Meaning, it is good due to other supporting narrations; because this Abū Furwah is agreed upon as being weak. Therefore, al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Weak." The third: from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Zahr, from ʿAlī ibn Yazīd, from al-Qāsim, from Abū Umāmah, in a marfūʿ form with the wording: "Whoever initiates the greeting of peace is more deserving of Allāh and His Messenger."
