ʿAbd Allāh said: I said to ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz: A man from the Companions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) narrated to me, and ʿUmar recognized him; I said: He narrated to me that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned the ḥadīth in its entirety, and in it: "and fiqh." I said: This is a good isnād, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of al-Bukhārī; except for al-Muthanná, whom a group, including Ibn Ḥibbān, considered trustworthy (7/503), and his mention was omitted in "al-Tahdhībayn." Abū Ḥātim said: "His ḥadīth is sound." The ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "There is no harm in him." Then al-Dārimī narrated with his mentioned isnād from Abū Usāmah: Sulaimān ibn al-Mughīrah narrated to me, he said: Abū Qilābah said: ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz came out to us for the ẓuhr prayer with a paper, then he came out to us for the ʿaṣr prayer and it was with him, so I said to him: O Commander of the Faithful! What is this book? He said: A ḥadīth narrated to me by ʿAwn ibn ʿAbd Allāh; I liked it, so I wrote it down; and in it is this ḥadīth. I said: And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī. (Note): The ḥāfiẓ mentioned in the biography of (Bakr ibn Bishr al-Tirmidhī) mentioned in the first path from Abū Ḥātim that it was reversed, and the correct [name] is: "Bishr ibn Bakr." So where did Abū Ḥātim mention this? For his son mentioned it as it appeared in the isnād, and he quoted from his father that he is: "unknown" as previously mentioned. And it also appeared in his biography of his teacher (ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Sawār). And Allāh knows best
