that he came to ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Kaʿb ibn Mālik, who was wearing a simple wrap, and circumambulated behind the House, having wrapped it around himself, while he was blind and being led. He said: I greeted him, and he said: Who is this? I said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Thaʿlabah. He said: The brother of Banū Ḥārithah? I said: Yes. He said: And the relative of Juhaynah? I said: Yes. He said: Have you heard your father narrate a ḥadīth that he heard from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)? He said: I do not know. He said: I heard your father say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: ... and he mentioned it. He said: "The isnād is authentic," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him! I said: There is a concern; for this al-Qazzāz is subject to severe disagreement; some say about him: "a liar," and others say: "trustworthy"! Al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mughnī": "Well-known, accused of lying by Abū Dāwūd and Ibn Kharrāsh." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Weak," but he has been followed up, as al-Ṭabarānī said in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (1/250/801): Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥaḍramī narrated to us: Aḥmad ibn ʿAnbasah al-ʿAbbādānī narrated to us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥamrān narrated it without the story. And Aḥmad ibn ʿAnbasah; thus it appeared in this narration: (ibn ʿAnbasah) attributed to his grandfather; for in "al-Tahdhīb" and its branches: "Aḥmad ibn ʿĀṣim ibn ʿAnbasah al-ʿAbbādānī Abū Ṣāliḥ, resident of Baghdad."
