al-Būṣīrī said in "Miṣbāḥ al-Zujājah" (4/132): "This is a sound isnād, its narrators are trustworthy, and the brother of ʿAwn; his name is: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn [ʿAbd Allāhibn] ʿUtbah." I say: He is trustworthy, and he is confirmed among the narrators of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, and his brother ʿAwn is trustworthy among the narrators of Muslim, and therefore the doubt in it does not harm; because it does not go beyond one of the two trustworthy individuals. And Mūsá ibn Abī ʿĪsá al-Ṭaḥḥān, thus it appeared in "Ibn Mājah," and it appeared in "al-Musnad" and "al-Duʿāʾ": (Abī ʿĪsá Mūsá al-Ṣaghīr), and al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned in the biography of the first in "al-Tahdhīb" that the name of Abī ʿĪsá is: Maysarah, and that he narrated from ʿAwn ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUtbah, and from him Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd, and likewise al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mizzī mentioned in his biography, and similarly in the biography of (Mūsá al-Ṣaghīr), and his father's name is: Muslim; and his kunyah: Abū ʿĪsá al-Kūfī al-Ṭaḥḥān. And they both mentioned in their "Tahdhībs": "Mūsá al-Ṣaghīr, whom Abū Muʿāwiyah narrates from: is Mūsá ibn Muslim, and he is Mūsá al-Ṭaḥḥān, and he is Mūsá al-Ṣaghīr, trustworthy." I say: It appears that the mention of the nisbah tool: (ibn) in "Sunan Ibn Mājah" is an error by the copyist or printer, and the correct version is: (Mūsá Abī ʿĪsá al-Ṭaḥḥān) by omitting the nisbah, and Allāh knows best. Some of what has been mentioned is supported by another narration by Aḥmad who said (4/268): Ibn Numayr narrated to us: Mūsá narrated to us—meaning: Ibn Muslim al-Ṭaḥḥān—from ʿAwn ibn ʿAbd Allāh from his father—or from his brother—with it. And with this isnād, it was extracted by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (10/289/9464 and 13/455/16888); except that he did not mention (al-Ṭaḥḥān). And through his route, it was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Duʿāʾ"; but it appeared in it: (Mūsá al-Juhanī)!
