- "At the death of Saʿd ibn Muʿādh, seventy thousand angels descended, who had never set foot on the earth before. When he was buried, it was said: 'Glory be to Allāh! If anyone were to escape the pressure of the grave, it would have been Saʿd. [Indeed, he was embraced tightly, then it was relieved from him].'" It was recorded by al-Bazzār (3/256/2698 - Kashf al-Astār) through the route of Abū ʿAttāb: Miskīn ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Khaṭṭāb narrated to us: Nāfiʿ informed me from Ibn ʿUmar who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: ... and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is good, its men are trustworthy and well-known; except for this Miskīn; al-Bukhārī mentioned him in "al-Tārīkh" with his narration from Burd ibn Sinān, and said: "He is considered among the Basrans, Muḥammad ibn Rūmī and Bishr ibn al-Ḥakam narrated from him." And he remained silent about him. Ibn Abī Ḥātim translated him (4/1/329) with the narration of five other trustworthy narrators, and said: "I asked my father about him? He said: Miskīn Abū Fāṭimah's matter is weak with this ḥadīth; the ḥadīth of Abū Umāmah regarding washing on Friday." I say: This is a mild weakening; for the ḥadīth he referred to was narrated by Abū Fāṭimah from Ḥawshab from al-Ḥasan who said: Abū Umāmah used to narrate from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) ... and he mentioned it; it is recorded in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (1802), and its weakening with this ḥadīth is questionable to me; because he has no fault in it; he is merely a transmitter, and the defect lies with al-Ḥasan - who is al-Baṣrī -; for he did not explicitly state his hearing, as Abū Ḥātim said, "al-Ḥasan from Abū Umāmah does not come."
