And what confirms this is that al-Nasāʾī, in some of his narrations, reported it through the same chain that al-Tirmidhī used, both from their teacher (Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd) with his isnād, without the addition. This addition also appeared in the work of our esteemed brother ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī: "The Refined Work of the Day and Night by Ibn al-Sunnī" (95/202), and it is not found with Ibn al-Sunnī; because he narrated it from his teacher al-Nasāʾī—as mentioned earlier—from Qutaybah, then attributed it to al-Tirmidhī and others! It would have been appropriate in the art of takhrīj to place the addition in brackets as is known today [], and to note that it is unique to al-Tirmidhī. As for the verification, it requires not mentioning it at all; except to clarify that it has no basis, thus the need for this clarification. *
