- "Do not accuse Allāh in anything He has decreed for you." It was narrated by Aḥmad (5/318-319): Ḥasan narrated to us: Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us: al-Ḥārith ibn Yazīd narrated to us from ʿUlayy ibn Rabāḥ: that he heard Junādah ibn Abī Umayyah say: I heard ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit say: A man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: O Prophet of Allāh! Which deed is best? He said: "Faith in Allāh, belief in Him, and striving in His cause." He said: I want something easier than that, O Messenger of Allāh! He said: "Generosity and patience." He said: I want something easier than that, O Messenger of Allāh! He said: ... and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād in the follow-ups is good, all its men are trustworthy, men of Muslim - and Ḥasan is Ibn Mūsá al-Ashyab -; except Ibn Lahīʿah; he is poor in memory except in what the ʿAbbādilah narrated from him, his ḥadīth is authentic, or he was followed up, and all of that is verified here as I will explain. As for the first; it was narrated by Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in "al-Riḍā ʿan Allāh" (p. 82-83) through the path of Yaʿqūb ibn Muḥammad al-Zuhrī: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb narrated to us from al-Ḥārith ibn Yazīd without the phrase; "Generosity and patience." It occurred in it as: "ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb from al-Ḥārith ...", and likewise in the manuscript of "al-Riḍā" (fol. 7/1- Ẓāhiriyyah)! It seems that Ibn Lahīʿah was omitted from the isnād, and I suspect it is from Yaʿqūb al-Zuhrī; for he is often mistaken as in "al-Taqrīb". They did not mention for Ibn Wahb a narration from al-Ḥārith ibn Yazīd, nor could he have heard from him, for he died in the year (130); and Ibn Wahb was five years old
