then he narrated it with a sound chain from Abū al-Bakhtarī with a similar meaning, and in it: A man said, "Will there be apes and swine among us?!" He replied, "What makes you safe from that, no mother for you?!" ʿAbd al-Razzāq recorded in his "Muṣannaf" (11/369/20765) through the route of Qatādah that Ḥudhayfah said: "You will certainly follow the ways of the Children of Israel step by step, and inch by inch, so much so that if a man from the Children of Israel did such and such, a man from this nation would do the same." A man asked him, "Were there apes and swine among the Children of Israel?!" He replied, "And in this nation, there will be apes and swine." Its narrators are trustworthy; however, it is disconnected. The second: from Sahl ibn Saʿd who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul! You will certainly follow the ways of those before you, step by step." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (6/251/6017) through the route of Ibn Lahīʿah: Bakr ibn Sawādah narrated it from him. Its narrators are trustworthy, and it was narrated from Ibn Lahīʿah by Yaḥyá ibn Isḥāq al-Sayliḥnī, who was among his early companions. Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr affirmed its attribution to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in "al-Tamhīd" (5/45), as if it were for its supporting evidence. Through his route: Aḥmad recorded it (5/340) with the wording: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul! You will certainly follow the ways of those before you, exactly as they did."
