and al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but makes mistakes." I have mentioned for him there in "al-Irwāʾ" another chain from ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) through the narration of ʿAbd al-Aʿlá ibn ʿĀmir and a corroborator for him, whose isnād I deemed good due to their concurrence. In a narration by the first of them reported by al-Bayhaqī and others: that the slave girl belonged to one of the wives of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). The wording of Abū Dāwūd (4473): for the family of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). A similar wording is found in Aḥmad (1/85) with the phrase: that a slave girl of theirs committed adultery... I say this is befitting the status of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): that this slave girl was not owned by him, but rather by one of his wives. She served the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) frequently, leading to the assumption that she was his slave girl. Supporting what I mentioned—Allāh knows best—is the story of the man accused with the mother of his child (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), whom ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) was ordered to kill. When he saw him to be castrated and without a male organ, he refrained from killing him and informed the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) of this, who said: "All praise is due to Allāh who averts from us, the people of the house." The story has already been mentioned under number (1904) from a third route. His saying: (tamāthal) means: the recovery is nearing completion, and the original is (tatamāthal); it is said: the sick person is recovering; when he is nearing recovery. As in "al-Qāmūs"
