she gave birth fifteen nights after her husband's death. Abū al-Sanābil came to her and said, "It seems you are considering remarriage? You cannot do so until the longer of the two waiting periods has passed." She went to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and informed him of what Abū al-Sanābil had said. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, "Abū al-Sanābil has lied. If someone comes to you whom you are pleased with, bring him to me, or he said: inform me." He informed her that her waiting period had ended. This was also recorded by Aḥmad, and its chain of narration is authentic. Al-Haythamī said (5/3), "Its narrators are those of the authentic collections." (Note): A number of commentators have mistakenly attributed the ḥadīth of the chapter to al-Shaykhayn, which is a grave error or a severe oversight, as it implies that it is with them in this wording: "Abū al-Sanābil has lied!"
