this valley of supporters, then Allāh revealed: *"Then let him call his council. We will call the angels of punishment."* (Sūrah al-ʿAlaq, verses 17-18). Ibn ʿAbbās said: "If he had called his council, the angels of punishment would have seized him immediately." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/238) and Ibn Jarīr in his Tafsīr (30/164) through various chains from Dāwūd ibn Abī Hind from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: and he mentioned it. The context is from Ibn Jarīr. I say: Its chain is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan gharīb ṣaḥīḥ." I say: It was also narrated by al-Bukhārī and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (3/141/1) and others through different chains from ʿIkrimah with similar wording. And in "al-Muʿjam" (3/173/1) there is another chain from Ibn ʿAbbās.

- "Learn from your genealogies that which will enable you to maintain your family ties, for maintaining family ties is love among family, an increase in wealth, and a prolongation of life." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (1/357-358), al-Ḥākim (4/161), Aḥmad (2/374), and al-Samʿānī in "al-Ansāb" (1/5) from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿĪsá al-Thaqafī from Yazīd, the freed slave of al-Munbaʿith, from Abū Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A gharīb ḥadīth from this perspective." I say: Its chain is good, its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, except for this ʿAbd al-Malik, about whom Abū Ḥātim said "acceptable."
