al-Bazzār said, "We do not know anyone who narrated it from Thābit except Suwār, and he was not strong, but many scholars narrated from him." I said: He is moderate, and his ḥadīth is considered good as long as he does not contradict, and the scholars after the ḥadīth preservers have agreed on this, and the ḥāfiẓ indicated this by saying about him: "Truthful but has errors." al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mughnī": "His ḥadīth is acceptable." Refer to the statements of the ḥadīth preservers in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd" (510). al-Haythamī said in the takhrīj of the ḥadīth: "It was narrated by al-Bazzār, and in it is Suwār ibn Dāwūd Abū Ḥamzah, who was deemed reliable by Aḥmad, Ibn Ḥibbān, and Ibn Maʿīn, but he has weakness, and the rest of the narrators are those of the authentic [collections]." al-Aʿẓamī transmitted this in his commentary on "al-Bazzār"; however, he omitted the statement: "but he has weakness..." etc. Instead, it was printed as: "and others, and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad is trustworthy and reliable"!! This occurred with al-Haythamī in another ḥadīth following this, so the matter became confused for Shaykh al-Aʿẓamī, thus requiring clarification! this ḥadīth of al-Miqdād is strengthened by what ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAwn narrated from ʿUmayr ibn Isḥāq from him, saying:
وقال البزار:"لا نعلم رواه عن ثابت إلا سوار، ولم يكن بالقوي، وقد حدث عنه كثير من أهل العلم ". قلت: هو وسط، وهو حسن الحديث ما لم يخالف، وعلى ذلك جرى العلماء من بعد الحفاظ، وأشار إلى ذلك الحافظ بقوله فيه:"صدوق له أوهام ". وقال الذهبي في "المغني ":"صالح الحديث ". وانظر أقوال الحفاظ في "صحيح أبي داود" (٥١٠) . وقال الهيثمي في تخريج الحديث:"رواه البزار، وفيه سوار بن داود أبو حمزة، وثقه أحمد وابن حبان وابن معين، وفيه ضعف، وبقية رجاله رجال الصحيح ". وقد نقل الأعظمي هذا في تعليقه على "البزار"؛ لكن سقط منه قوله:"وفيه ضعف ... " إلخ. وطبع مكانه: "وغيره، وعبد الله بن أحمد ثقة مأمون "!! وهذا وقع عند الهيثمي في حديث آخر عقب هذا، فاختلط الأمر على الشيخ الأعظمي، فاقتضى التنبيه! ويقوِّي حديث المقداد هذا: ما روى عبد الله بن عون عن عُمَير بن إسحاق عنه قال:
