ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): that he stood one night in Mecca and said, "O Allāh! Have I conveyed [the message]?" three times. So ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb stood and said, "O Allāh! Yes, and you advised and strived." In the morning, he said, "Faith will surely prevail until disbelief returns to its places, and they will surely traverse the seas with Islam, and a time will come upon people when they will learn the Quran..." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (25/27-28), and al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (1/80): "Its isnād is good, if Allāh wills." And al-Haythamī said (1/186): "Its narrators are trustworthy; except that Hind bint al-Ḥārith al-Khathʿamīyah, the follower, I have not seen anyone who declared her reliable or criticized her!" And I say: Indeed; she has been declared reliable by someone you often rely upon, and that is Ibn Ḥibbān; he mentioned her in "al-Thiqāt" (5/517) through the narration of this Yazīd from her, and al-Ḥāfiẓ said about her: "Acceptable." Meaning when corroborated, and she was corroborated; al-Bazzār said in "his Musnad" (1/405/283- al-Baḥr al-Zakhkhār): ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shabīb narrated to us, he said: Isḥāq ibn Muḥammad al-Farawī narrated to us, he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to us from his father from his grandfather from ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Islam will prevail until horses traverse the seas, and until traders differ in the sea, then a people will emerge who recite the Quran..." the ḥadīth
