and it was authenticated by al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī, who included it in "al-Mukhtārah" (220/2 - 221/2) from this chain. Ibn Ḥibbān also narrated it in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (2091) from Ibn Wahb, who reported from Nāfiʿ ibn Yazīd. This ḥadīth indicates the invalidity of the ḥadīth found in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr" with the wording: "Allāh refused to give affliction power over His believing servant." "Whenever you pass by the grave of a disbeliever, give him the tidings of the Fire." It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī (1/19/1) who said: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz narrated to us, Muḥammad ibn Abī Naʿīm al-Wāsiṭī narrated to us, Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿd narrated to us from al-Zuhrī, from ʿĀmir ibn Saʿd, from his father who said: A Bedouin came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: "My father used to maintain family ties and do such and such, so where is he?" He said: "In the Fire." It was as if the Bedouin was affected by that, so he said: "O Messenger of Allāh, where is your father?" He said: and he mentioned it. He said: The Bedouin then embraced Islam and said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) has burdened me: I have not passed by the grave of a disbeliever except that I gave him the tidings of the Fire." I said: This chain is authentic; all its narrators are trustworthy and well-known. The dismissal by Ibn Maʿīn of Muḥammad ibn Abī Naʿīm is not considered after the authentication by Aḥmad and Abū Ḥātim, especially since he was followed in his chain. Al-Ḍiyāʾ included it in "al-Mukhtārah" (1/333) through two chains from Zayd ibn Akhzam, who narrated to us, Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿd narrated it, and he said:
