- (Abū al-Yaqẓān is upon the natural disposition, he will not abandon it until he dies, or old age overtakes him). It was recorded by al-Bazzār in "his Musnad" (3/252/2686- al-Kashf): Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá narrated to us: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Mūsá narrated to us: Saʿīd ibn Aws narrated to us from Bilāl ibn Yaḥyá who said: When ʿUthmān was killed—may Allāh be pleased with him—Ḥudhayfah was approached, and it was said: O Abū ʿAbd Allāh! This man has been killed, and the people are divided; what do we say? He said: Support me; so they supported him against the chest of a man and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: ... and he mentioned it. And he said: "We do not know it to be narrated from Ḥudhayfah except through this isnād." I said: And it is a ṣaḥīḥ isnād, all its men are trustworthy, and Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá is al-Awdī Abū Jaʿfar al-Kūfī, one of the trustworthy shaykhs of al-Nasāʾī, and he has been corroborated. Ibn Saʿd said in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (3/262-263) — and from him Ibn ʿAsākir in "al-Tārīkh" (12/652) —: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Mūsá and al-Faḍl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, they said: Saʿīd ibn Aws al-ʿAbasī narrated it to us, except that he said: "or old age makes him forget." And it was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (1/163/3043), and Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (5/205) through two other chains from Saʿīd ibn Aws with it in abridged form, except that Ibn ʿAdī said: "Saʿd." And this is the correct version, consistent with the old and modern biographical works such as: "Tārīkh al-Bukhārī," "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl," "Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān," and others, and "Tahdhīb al-Kamāl" and its branches
- (أبو اليقظان على الفطرة، لا يدَعُها حتى يموت، أو يمسَّهُ الهرم) .أخرجه البزار في "مسنده " (٣/٢٥٢/٢٦٨٦- الكشف) : حدثنا أحمد بن يحيى: ثنا عبيد الله بن موسى: ثنا سعيد بن أوس عن بلال بن يحيى قال: لما قتل عثمان- ﵁ أُتي حذيفة، فقيل: يا أبا عبد الله! قتل هذا الرجل؛ وقد اختلف الناس؛ فما نقول؟ فقال: أسندوني؛ فأسندوه إلى صدر رجل فقال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: ... فذكره. وقال:"لا نعلمه يروى عن حذيفة إلا بهذا الإسناد". قلت: وهو إسناد صحيح رجاله ثقات كلهم، وأحمد بن يحيى هو الأودي أبو جعفر الكوفي من ثقات شيوخ النسائي، وقد توبع، فقال ابن سعد في "الطبقات " (٣/٢٦٢- ٢٦٣) - وعنه ابن عساكر في "التاريخ " (١٢/٦٥٢) -: أخبرنا عبيد الله ابن موسى والفضل بن دُكين قالا: أخبرنا سعيد بن أوس العبسي به، إلا أنه قال: "أو يُنسِيَهُ الهرم ". وأخرجه الطبراني في "المعجم الأوسط " (١/١٦٣/٣٠٤٣) ، وابن عدي في "الكامل " (٥/٢٠٥) من طريقين آخرين عن سعيد بن أوس به مختصراًً، إلا أن ابن عدي قال: "سعد". وهو الصواب الموافق لكتب التراجم القديمة والحديثة مثل: "تاريخ البخاري "، و"الجرح والتعديل "، و"ثقات ابن حبان "، وغيرها، و"تهذيب الكمال " وفروعه.
