and I had previously extracted the ḥadīth of the chapter with a similar wording in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (647) through two chains, the first being better than the second. I mentioned that the ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr affirmed its attribution to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and that perhaps he found another chain or chains that strengthened it, and thus it should be examined. And here I have come across this chain, so I hastened to extract it in fulfillment of what I said there. It appears to be among the chains that collectively convinced ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr of the authenticity of the ḥadīth from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), leading him to affirm its attribution to him. This was also impressed upon me when I came across this chain, which, as previously noted, is at least ḥasan due to other supporting evidence, and it is strengthened by the first chain mentioned earlier. Then I found another chain, mursal, narrated by Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār: Yūnus ibn Bukayr narrated to us from Mālik ibn Mighwal from Ṭalḥah from Abū Ṣāliḥ that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "When will I meet my brothers?" It was said: O Messenger of Allāh! Are we not your brothers?! He said: "You are my companions, and my brothers are a people from my nation who have not seen me, yet they believe in me and affirm me." Then the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to them: "Which of creation has the most amazing faith? ..." the ḥadīth. It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī in "Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah" (6/538), and he said: "This is mursal." Then he cited it from the first chain extracted there, and then said: "It is also narrated from Saʿīd ibn Bashīr from Qatādah from Anas in a connected form."
