the statement of the ḥadīth scholars is close to fairness. All praise is due to Allāh for them, and gratitude is due to them (as it is stated). How could it not be so when they are truly the heirs of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and the true deputies of his law? May Allāh gather us in their company and cause us to die loving them and following their way."

- "O people, ransom yourselves from Allāh with the wealth of Allāh. If any of you is stingy in giving his wealth to the people, let him start with himself and give charity to himself, so let him eat and clothe himself from what Allāh has provided him." It was recorded by al-Kharāʾiṭī in "Makārim al-Akhlāq" (54): Ḥammād ibn al-Ḥasan al-Warrāq narrated to us, Ḥibbān ibn Hilāl narrated to us, Sulaym ibn Ḥayyān narrated to us, Ḥumayd ibn Hilāl narrated from Abū Qatādah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic; all its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for Sulaym ibn Ḥayyān, who was deemed trustworthy by Aḥmad, Ibn Maʿīn, and others.
