"it was narrated by Abū Dāwūd from Shahār from him, and al-Ḥākim from Abū Hurayrah from him, and he said: 'Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs.' So he said!" You have come to know the flaw in its isnād, and that it is suitable for citation, and perhaps for this reason Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah confidently attributed it to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in several places in his "Fatāwá." See pages 41, 44, and 509 of volume 27 of "Majmūʿ al-Fatāwá," and he said on the last page of these mentioned; in a chapter he composed on the virtue of Shām and its people: "And in this ḥadīth, there is good news for our companions who migrated from (Ḥarrān) and other places to the migration place of Ibrāhīm, and followed the creed of Ibrāhīm, and the religion of their Prophet Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and it clarifies that this migration of theirs is equivalent to the migration of the Companions of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) to Madīnah, because migration is to where the Messenger and his traces are, and the migration place of Ibrāhīm has been made equivalent for us to the migration place of our Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam); for migration ceased with the conquest of Makkah." On this occasion, it is appropriate for me to say, as a clarification for history, and in gratitude to my father—may Allāh have mercy on him: Likewise, in the ḥadīth, there is good news for us: the family of my father who migrated with his family from his town (Shkodër), the capital of (Albania) at that time; fleeing with religion from the revolution of (Aḥmad Zogu)—may Allāh mislead his heart—who began to lead the Albanian Muslims in the path of his predecessor (Atatürk) with the Turks. By the grace and mercy of Allāh, I reaped from this migration to (Damascus, Shām) what I cannot fulfill the duty of thanking my Lord for, even if I lived the lifespan of Noah (peace be upon him); for I first learned the Syrian Arabic language there, then the classical Arabic language, which enabled me to know the correct tawḥīd that most Arabs who were from
