and the ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "abandoned, and Abū Zurʿah accused him." It is possible that the error is from the original source, meaning: "Musnad al-Ḥārith" or from "Zawāʾid" by al-Haythamī, from which it was transferred. The first is more likely because the ḥāfiẓ mentioned it in "al-Maṭālib" as previously noted, indicating "from his father," suggesting it is an error. However, two matters complicate this: first, the ḥāfiẓ did not say after it "Jarīr" as it is in "al-Zawāʾid," as previously noted. Second, Abū ʿAwānah narrated it with several narrations from Yūnus ibn ʿUbayd, including his saying: "al-Ḥārith ibn Abī Usāmah narrated to us..." and he provided his isnād to Yūnus without the rest; however, he said: "the ḥadīth of al-Firyābī from al-Thawrī." I said: and the ḥadīth of al-Thawrī is like the ḥadīth of the others from Yūnus, without mention of the father. So I do not know if it is the same with al-Ḥārith in the narration of Abū ʿAwānah from him, or if this overlooked that error due to its clarity?! Supporting the error: it occurred with Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr through the path of ʿAbd al-Wārith, the teacher of al-ʿAbbās ibn al-Faḍl, correctly. And Allāh knows best. This; and the raised ḥadīth of Jarīr from his saying (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) without: "the reward and the booty"; has appeared in "al-Ṣaḥīḥayn" and others from the ḥadīth of another group of Companions; among them ʿUrwah al-Bāriqī, Ibn ʿUmar, and others. *
