the ḥadīth with them is in the wording that is definitively considered false, may Allāh deal with him as he deserves!! If a student of knowledge were to reverse the judgment of the foolish one and assert the falsehood of the wording he claimed to be authentic, he would prevail over him; because he has some narrations that include "Where is Allāh?" from more numerous and authentic sources than his wording, so how is it possible when he also has the ḥadīth of Muʿāwiyah ibn al-Ḥakam—may Allāh be pleased with him—which has been authenticated by a large number of scholars, both ancient and modern, as previously mentioned?! However, we do not see a contradiction that would require us to resort to weighing the evidence as previously explained, and this is the approach taken by the eminent scholar Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah—may Allāh have mercy on him—in "Iʿlām al-Muwaqqiʿīn" (3/521 - Kurdi); he mentioned two narrations from what was previously discussed: "Who is your Lord?" and "Where is Allāh?" Then he said: "He—ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam—asked: 'Where is Allāh?' and the one he asked responded that Allāh is in the heaven, and he accepted his answer and knew by it that it was the true faith in his Lord, and he did not object to this question. According to the Jahmī, the question 'Where is Allāh?' is like asking: What is His color, what is His taste, what is His gender, what is His origin? and similar impossible and false questions!" Indeed, he—may Allāh have mercy on him—spoke the truth and hit the mark of reality, for you see this (fool) how he insists on denying this authentic ḥadīth which has been authenticated by the leaders of the Muslims as previously explained, and then he does not stop at that, but accuses them of anthropomorphism! He says—may his mouth be silenced—(p. 187): "It is astonishing and strange that we see the anthropomorphists repeatedly uttering this phrase: 'Where is Allāh?' on their tongues always, and they do not realize (!) that this is the action of narrators, and a narration of the Prophet's—ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam—words with an erroneous meaning, especially after this ḥadīth has been established with non-Muslim sources in the wording: 'Do you testify that there is no deity but Allāh...' which is completely different, or at least different in a way that does not convey the meaning of: Where is Allāh?" Then he confirmed his assertion that the Prophet—ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam—did not say this word which has been authenticated by the scholars, and that is only because it is a crushing blow to the innovators, the Jahmiyyah, and I do not know—by Allāh—what to say in
