I said: And from his route: it was extracted by al-Bazzār (1/14/13 - al-Kashf), and he did not mention al-Ḥakam in its isnād, and said: "And this has been narrated similarly with different wordings!" I said: With this wording, there is another route for it, narrated by Yazīd ibn Ḥakīm: Yaḥyá ibn al-Sakan narrated to us from Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ: Ḥabīb ibn Abī Thābit narrated to us from Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī from Ḥunayn from Ibn ʿAbbās with it, except that he said: "I am obligated to free a believing neck..." and he did not mention his mother. It was extracted by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (2/143/1/7212): Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá narrated to us: Yazīd narrated it, and he said: "No one narrated it from Ḥabīb except Qays." I said: He is weak due to his memory, and Yaḥyá ibn al-Sakan—who is al-Raqī then al-Baṣrī—is weak, even though Ibn Ḥibbān deemed him reliable. And Yazīd ibn Ḥakīm is of unknown status; Ibn Abī Ḥātim did not mention any criticism or endorsement about him. As for the other wording; it is narrated by Saʿīd ibn al-Marzubān from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: A man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) with a black slave girl, and said: I am obligated to free a neck—I think he said: believing—, does this suffice for me? He said to her: "Where is Allāh?"
