- (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): "what is this call of ignorance?!" They said: O Messenger of Allāh! A man from the Muhājirīn pushed a man from the Anṣār, so he said: "Leave it, for it is offensive." [Jābir said: The Anṣār were more numerous when the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) arrived, then the Muhājirīn increased afterwards.] ʿAbdullāh ibn Ubayy heard it and said: Have they done it? If we return to Madīnah, the more honorable will surely expel the lowly from it! ʿUmar said: Let me strike the neck of this hypocrite. He said: "Leave him; so that people do not say that Muḥammad kills his companions." The context is from Muslim, with the addition from al-Bukhārī, Aḥmad, and others. Ibn Jurayj followed him, saying: ʿAmr ibn Dīnār informed me of it similarly. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (3518). A number of others followed it in both extended and abbreviated forms. It was recorded by Abū Yaʿlá (3/459/1959), and Ibn Jarīr in "al-Tafsīr" (27/72-73 and 73); and he has the addition in a narration. In another narration, it added: "...he pushed a man from the Anṣār with his foot, and this is severe among the people of Yemen." Its narrators are trustworthy, except for Ibn Ḥumayd—Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd al-Rāzī—who is weak despite his memorization.

- (When evil appears on the earth, Allāh sends His punishment upon the people of the earth. [ʿĀʾishah] said: Even among them are the obedient to Allāh? He said: Yes, then they will return to the mercy of Allāh, the Exalted.) It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/41), and Ibn Abī Shaybah (15/42-43): narrated to us by [Sufyān]
