he was born in the year 33, and Kaʿb died after the year 50. And Allāh knows best. Then I found another chain for the ḥadīth through Abū Salamah Sulaymān ibn Sulaym from Ibn Jābir, who said: The people gathered in Bayt al-Maqdis, intending to pledge allegiance to Muʿāwiyah with a pledge upon which the ummah had agreed, and among them were ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥawālah and Kaʿb ibn Murrah. ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥawālah stood up and said... and he mentioned the ḥadīth similar to the narration of Jubayr ibn Nufayr, except that he made the first speaker Ibn Ḥawālah, as you see, and Kaʿb the second speaker. It was recorded by Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (1293). Its narrators are trustworthy; however, it is disconnected, because Ibn Jābir—who is Yaḥyā al-Ṭāʾī al-Ḥimṣī—was a follower of a follower; he did not meet any of the Companions.

(When two men relieve themselves, let each one conceal himself from his companion, and let them not converse while doing so, for Allāh detests that.) Abū ʿAlī ibn al-Sakan said: Yaḥyā ibn Muḥammad ibn Ṣāʿid narrated to me: al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad ibn Abī Shuʿayb al-Ḥarrānī narrated to us: Miskīn ibn Bukayr narrated from al-Awzāʿī from Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said... and he mentioned it. This is how it appears in "al-Wahm wa-al-Iyhām" (2/142/2) by Ibn al-Qaṭṭān, and he said: "Ibn al-Sakan said: ʿIkrimah ibn ʿAmmār narrated it from Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr from Hilāl ibn ʿIyāḍ from Abū Saʿīd from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and I hope that both are authentic."
