And he added: So we attacked ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān while he was wrapped in a striped cloak, pledging allegiance to the people. He said: meaning: buying and selling. And the context is from Ibn ʿAdī, who said: "And this Saʿīd al-Jurayrī is reliable in ḥadīth, and his ḥadīth is a proof; from those who heard from him before the confusion." I said: And Ḥammād ibn Salamah is among those who heard from him before the confusion, as in "al-Tahdhīb," so it is a sound isnād, and al-Ḥākim said likewise, and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. And ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaqīq has another isnād, narrated by Kahmas ibn al-Ḥasan from him, who said: Haramī ibn al-Ḥārith and Usāmah ibn Khuraym—who used to engage in military expeditions—narrated to me a ḥadīth, and neither was aware of the other
