It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (24/323/811): Jaʿfar ibn al-Faḍl al-Mukharramī al-Muʾaddib narrated to us: Dāwūd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī al-Karām al-Jaʿfarī narrated to us: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad al-Darāwardī narrated from Manṣūr ibn Ṣafiyyah bint Shaybah from his mother... This isnād is ḥasan, its narrators are truthful and mentioned in "al-Tahdhīb" except for this Jaʿfar, who was mentioned by al-Khaṭīb in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (7/194) with only al-Ṭabarānī narrating from him, and he provided another ḥadīth for him, narrated in "al-Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr" (552- "al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr") and "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (1/193/1/3531), without mentioning any criticism or endorsement. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (5/173): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī, and its men are trustworthy!" The other witness: Usāmah ibn Zayd, similar to the ḥadīth of Ṣafiyyah, and its source has been previously mentioned in the second volume, number (996).

(It was preferred for a man to fight under the banner of his people). It was recorded by Aḥmad (4/263) who said: Yaḥyá ibn ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Abī Ghanīyah narrated to us: ʿUqbah ibn al-Mughīrah narrated to us from the grandfather of his father, al-Mukhāriq, who said: I met ʿAmmār on the day of the Camel, while he was urinating in a corner; so I said: Should I fight with you to be with you? He said: Fight under the banner of your people; for the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to... [and so on]. It was also recorded by Abū Yaʿlá in "his Musnad" (3/206/1641): ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar ibn Abān narrated to us: Ibn Abī Ghanīyah narrated it with the same isnād; except that he inserted an intermediary between ʿUqbah and the grandfather, saying: "from someone who narrated to him from the grandfather of his father..."
