I said: Shaybān is Ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Tamīmī, their client, the grammarian, and he is trustworthy, one of the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim]. al-Walīd is Ibn Muslim al-Dimashqī, and he is also trustworthy; however, he used to practice tadlīs al-taswiyah, so it is possible that he is the one who omitted al-Muhallab between Abū Isḥāq and al-Barāʾ; if it was not from Abū Isḥāq himself, for he was a mudallis, and perhaps it is supported by the fact that al-Ajlah followed Shaybān, saying: from Abū Isḥāq from al-Barāʾ. It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī (616), al-Ḥākim, Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (12/504), Aḥmad (4/289), and Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (1/417-418) through various chains from al-Ajlah with it like Shaybān's narration without the addition. The word "innakum" was omitted from the printed edition of Ibn ʿAdī, and there were other errors which I pointed out in the "Index of al-Kāmil" which I am in the process of compiling, may Allāh facilitate its completion for me, and in the meantime, I have discovered hundreds of scholarly and typographical errors; which clearly indicate that those responsible for correcting the book are neither scholars nor strong students of knowledge! They have reprinted the book in a third edition; claiming that they corrected the errors that were in the first edition! This ḥadīth is one of the many evidences of the falsity of their claim; for in the first edition it was like this: [Face the enemy, if Allāh wills, in the morning...] And thus it appeared in the third edition as well (1/427); with a new error which is: [Face ṣ the enemy, if Allāh wills, in the morning...] As for al-Ajlah, he is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh Abū Ḥujayyah al-Kindī; there is some criticism regarding his memory,
