that his ḥadīth might be rare, and al-Jurayrī—whose name is Saʿīd ibn Iyās—is cited as evidence in "the two Ṣaḥīḥs"; although he experienced confusion three years before his death, his confusion was not severe. Perhaps for this reason, Ibn Ḥibbān cited him in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" following "the two Ṣaḥīḥs," and he narrated extensively from him. Therefore, someone like him should be cited as evidence unless his error becomes apparent. So if he is corroborated or has supporting evidence—as is the case with this ḥadīth of his—then its rarity does not harm it, if Allāh wills. Moreover, there is stronger supporting evidence than what has been mentioned, but in meaning, it is the same to me. It is the ḥadīth of ʿArfajah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "If someone comes to you while your affairs are united under one man, intending to divide your unity or separate your group, then kill him." It was narrated by Muslim, and Abū ʿAwānah (4/461-464), and Ibn Ḥibbān (6/294/4389), with the wording of Muslim, and it is a narration for Abū ʿAwānah. It was narrated with other similar wordings by others, and it is referenced in "al-Irwāʾ" (8/105). *
- "There will certainly come a time upon my nation when they will wish for the Dajjāl. I said: O Messenger of Allāh, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you! Why is that?! He said: Because of the hardship or distress they will encounter." It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (1/259): ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal told us, saying: Aḥmad ibn ʿUmar al-Wakīʿī told us, saying: Qabīṣah ibn ʿUqbah told us, saying: ʿUbayd ibn Ṭufayl Abū Saydān al-ʿAbsī told us, saying: I heard Shaddād ibn ʿAmmār say: Ḥudhayfah said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said... and he mentioned it. And he said: "No one narrated it from ʿUbayd ibn Ṭufayl except Qabīṣah, and Aḥmad ibn ʿUmar al-Wakīʿī was unique in narrating it."
