according to the criteria of Muslim," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him! It includes ʿAmr ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Saybānī; he indicated his unknown status in "al-Mīzān" by saying: "I have not known anyone who narrated from him except Yaḥyá ibn Abī ʿAmr al-Saybānī." And in "al-Kāshif" (2/335) by saying: "He is considered trustworthy." This points to Ibn Ḥibbān's leniency in declaring him trustworthy, as he often declared unknown narrators trustworthy. Al-Ḥākim also narrated (4/511) through the chain of Saʿīd ibn Sinān from Abū al-Zāhiriyyah from Kathīr ibn Murrah from Ibn ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked about the food of the believers during the time of the Dajjāl. He said: "The food of the angels." They said: And what is the food of the angels? He said: "Their food is their speech in glorifying and sanctifying..." a ḥadīth similar to it. And he said: "Its chain is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim." Al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying: "I say: No; for Saʿīd is accused and unreliable." And he was correct here, may Allāh have mercy on him. A third witness from the narration of Shahr ibn Ḥawshab from Asmāʾ bint Yazīd ibn al-Sakan is similar to the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar, but shorter. It was recorded by Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (1/616-617). And for the general Arabs, there is a witness from Umm Shurayk: recorded by Muslim (8/207), Ibn Ḥibbān (6759), and Aḥmad (6/462).
