I said: This is astonishing from him! For they are among the men of al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" and the men of Abū Dāwūd. The first was deemed trustworthy by a group, including Ibn Maʿīn, and the other I have known who deemed him trustworthy and that he is truthful. The ḥadīth was attributed in "al-Durr al-Manthūr" (5/79) to Ibn Abī Ḥātim and Ibn Mardawayh. It contains an indication of Allāh's grace and mercy upon whom He wills from His servants, who will have their evil deeds replaced with good deeds on the Day of Judgment, as in the ḥadīth before it. And Allāh knows best. *The ḥadīth of intercession and that it includes those who abandon prayer from among the Muslims
- (When the believers are saved from the Fire and are secure; [by the One in Whose hand is my soul!] the argument of any one of you for his companion in truth that he has in this world is not more intense than the argument of the believers with their Lord for their brothers who were admitted to the Fire. He said: They say: Our Lord! Our brothers used to pray with us; and fast with us; and perform ḥajj with us; [and strive with us]; yet You admitted them to the Fire. He said: So He says: Go and bring out those whom you recognize among them; they come to them and recognize them by their appearances; the Fire does not consume their appearances; [it does not cover the face]; among them are those whom the Fire took to the middle of their shins; and among them are those whom it took to their ankles (1) [they bring out many people from it]; they say: Our Lord! We have brought out those You commanded us. He said: Then [they return and speak, so] He says: Bring out those who have in their hearts the weight of a dinar of faith. [They bring out]
