and this Ibn Abī Rajāʾ, his name is Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Ṭarsūsī, and al-Nasāʾī has declared him trustworthy; he also said once: "There is no harm in him." I said: Such a person’s addition would be accepted; were it not that he contradicted all those who narrated from Wakīʿ—foremost among them Imām Aḥmad as mentioned previously—since they did not mention it. Thus, it was an anomalous addition in its chain and objectionable in its text; firstly, because it contradicts the correct meaning of the verse; and secondly, because it reinforces the problem. And Allāh knows best. *

- "Some people will wish they had committed more sins." They said, "With what, O Messenger of Allāh?" He said, "Those whose sins Allāh has replaced with good deeds." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/252) through the route of al-Faḍl ibn Mūsá from Abū al-ʿAnbas from his father from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said... and he mentioned it. He said: "This Abū al-ʿAnbas is Saʿīd ibn Kathīr, and its chain is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. And it is as they said, and another ḥadīth from Saʿīd and his father was mentioned earlier under number (3011), and they also authenticated it. Kathīr is Ibn ʿUbayd al-Taymī, the client of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, the foster brother of ʿĀʾishah, and a group of trustworthy narrators have reported from him. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt," so he is truthful. Ibn al-Qayyim did not know him nor his son Saʿīd; he cited the ḥadīth in "Ṭarīq al-Hijratayn" (p. 248) from the route of Abū Ḥafṣ al-Mustamlī from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Razmah: al-Faḍl ibn Mūsá narrated to us through it. Then he said: "Such a narration is not established, and who is Abū al-ʿAnbas? And who is his father?!"
