he said: "Ibn Ḥajar praised him greatly!" Second: Al-Haythamī included the ḥadīth in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (4/113) with the abridged narration of al-Bazzār, and he said after it: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ'; except that he said: 'Return it to its owner and sell it for cash, then buy dates.' And its isnād is good." The mention of al-Bazzār was omitted by the publisher, so the correct version is: "It was narrated by [al-Bazzār, and] al-Ṭabarānī..." Dr. al-Ṭaḥḥān did not notice this omission in his commentary on "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (2/231), so he transmitted it as he saw it in "al-Majmaʿ" without any comment on it! Similarly, Shaykh al-Aʿẓamī did the same in his commentary on "Zawāʾid al-Bazzār" by al-Haythamī, but he commented on it—adding insult to injury—saying (2/108): "Al-Haythamī did not attribute it to al-Bazzār, and it is there word for word!" This indicates his great negligence, otherwise he would not have said: ".. word for word" when the narration of al-Bazzār in front of him is abridged compared to the narration of al-Ṭabarānī, and al-Haythamī mentioned them both; except that the first was not attributed to al-Bazzār due to a typographical error, so if he had noticed this act of al-Haythamī, he would have avoided falling into these two errors: "word for word," and "al-Haythamī did not attribute it"!! Third: The statement of al-Bazzār after the ḥadīth: "We do not know anyone who narrated it from Thābit except Kathīr" was omitted from "Kashf al-Astār." It is confirmed in "Mukhtaṣar al-Zawāʾid" by the ḥāfiẓ (1/517). *
