I said: This is a sound isnād, its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim]. Then it was also narrated by Ibn Ḥibbān (3983 and 3986) through two chains from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ from Simāk from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās who said ... and mentioned something similar; except that he said: "My father is an old man who cannot perform ḥajj; should I perform ḥajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes; perform ḥajj on his behalf." Its men are trustworthy; but Simāk's ḥadīth from ʿIkrimah is inconsistent, so it is only used as supporting evidence, and he was followed in the first chain; except in his statement: "cannot perform ḥajj," and it came through another chain; Muḥammad ibn Kurayb said from his father from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: Ḥuṣayn ibn ʿAwf informed me, he said: I said: O Messenger of Allāh! My father reached the time of ḥajj and cannot perform ḥajj ... the ḥadīth. It was narrated by Ibn Mājah (2928), Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Āḥād" (4/468/2521), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (4/31/3548 and 3549). And Muḥammad ibn Kurayb is weak. And he has another chain with al-Ṭabarānī (3550) from Ḥuṣayn. And its isnād is also weak. But it has a sound supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Abū Razīn, see it in "al-Mishkāt" (2528). And the weak ḥadīth is compensated by the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās from his brother al-Faḍl, which is agreed upon, even though it mentions that the questioner was the Khathʿamī woman, the matter is easy in that regard, especially since in some narrations the questioner is a man, and al-Ḥāfiẓ reconciled between them as you see in "al-Fatḥ" (4/68)
قلت: وهذا إسناد صحيح، رجاله ثقات رجال الشيخين. ثم أخرجه ابن حبان (٣٩٨٣ و ٣٩٨٦) من طريقين عن أبي الأحوص عن سماك عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس قال ... فذكره نحوه؛ إلا أنه قال: "إن أبي شيخ كبير لا يستطيع الحج؛ أفأحج عنه؟ قال: "نعم؛ فحج عنه". ورجاله ثقات؛ لكن سماك مضطرب الحديث عن عكرمة، فلا يحتج به إلا في المتابعات والشواهد، وقد توبع في الطريق الأولى؛ إلا في قوله: "لا يستطيع الحج"، وقد جاء من طريق أخرى؛ فقال محمد بن كريب عن أبيه عن ابن عباس قال: أخبرني حصين بن عوف قال: قلت: يا رسول الله! إن أبي أدركه الحج ولا يستطيع أن يحج ... الحديث. أخرجه ابن ماجه (٠٨ ٢٩)، وابن أبي عاصم في "الآحاد" (٤/٤٦٨/ ٢٥٢١)، والطبراني في "المعجم الكبير" (٤/ ٣١/٣٥٤٨ و ٣٥٤٩). ومحمد بن كريب ضعيف. وله عند الطبراني (٣٥٥٠) طريق أخرى عن الحصين. وسنده ضعيف أيضاً. لكن له شاهد صحيح من حديث أبي رزين، انظره في "المشكاة" (٢٥٢٨). ويغني عن ذاك الضعيف حديث ابن عباس عن أخيه الفضل- المتفق عليه-، وإن كان فيه أن السائل المرأة الخثعمية، فالخطب في ذلك سهل، ولا سيما وفي بعض الروايات أن السائل رجل، وجمع الحافظ بينهما بما تراه في "الفتح " (٤/٦٨).
