I said: This isnād is very weak; ʿUmar ibn Qays is known as (Sandal); he is abandoned. Ibn Wahb narrated it from two other shaykhs in a mursal form. 1- He said: Ibn Jurayj informed me from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ: that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) permitted the camel herders to throw the pebbles at night. It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī. This isnād is ṣaḥīḥ mursal if Ibn Jurayj heard it from ʿAṭāʾ, as is the prevailing assumption. 2- And he also said: Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb informed me from ʿUmārah ibn Ghaziyyah from Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) similarly. It was also recorded by al-Bayhaqī. This isnād is ṣaḥīḥ mursal, its men are the men of "al-Ṣaḥīḥ". It is corroborated by the musnad of Muslim ibn Khālid: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUmar narrated to us from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar; similar to the ḥadīth of Ibn Jurayj. It was recorded by al-Bazzār in "his Musnad" (2/32/1139), and also by al-Bayhaqī. I said: This isnād is good in my view for supporting evidence, all its men are the men of Muslim; except for Muslim ibn Khālid who is al-Zanjī, and he is a trustworthy jurist with many errors; as al-Ḥāfiẓ said, and similarly al-Dhahabī said: "trustworthy, but errs". As for the statement of Ibn al-Turkumanī in "al-Jawhar al-Naqī" criticizing al-Bayhaqī by saying:
