and by al-Bayhaqī in his two books "al-Shuʿab" (2/533) and "al-Dalāʾil" (6/465), and by Aḥmad (3/38-39) through the route of Bashīr ibn Abī ʿAmr al-Khawlānī, that al-Walīd ibn Qays narrated to him that he heard Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say... and he mentioned it. Bashīr said: I asked al-Walīd: Who are these three? He replied: "The hypocrite disbelieves in it, the wicked person uses it for worldly gain, and the believer believes in it." Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic, its narrators are reliable from the Ḥijāz and Shām." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. (Note): Al-Haythamī did not include this ḥadīth in his book "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" after I searched for it in its expected places, nor did Zaghlūl include it in "Indexes of Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid," and likewise, al-Haythamī did not include it in his other book: "Mawārid al-Ẓamʾān," so I noted it there, and similarly dozens of others, and all praise is due to Allāh by whose grace good deeds are completed. *
- (Sūrah al-Najm was written in his presence, and when he reached the verse of prostration, he prostrated, and we prostrated with him, and the inkwell and the pen prostrated.) Al-Bazzār recorded it in full in "Musnad" (1/360/753-Kashf al-Astār): narrated to us by Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥīm: narrated to us by Muslim al-Jarmī: narrated to us by Mukhlid ibn Ḥusayn from Hishām from Muḥammad from Abū Hurayrah: that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) had it written in his presence... the ḥadīth. Al-Bazzār said: "We do not know it narrated in this wording except by Abū Hurayrah; and we do not know it except from this chain; Mukhlid uniquely narrated it from Hishām." I said: and they are both trustworthy narrators from the men of Muslim. And Muslim al-Jarmī is the son of Abū Muslim al-Jarmī; and his father's name is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān; blank
