and it is an authentic ḥadīth due to its various chains and supporting evidence. However, it was criticized by al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Fatḥ" due to the unknown status of a narrator in Aḥmad's chain, which is indeed the case. Nevertheless, he should have strengthened it with supporting evidence as is his usual practice. Therefore, it seemed necessary to me to point this out, fearing that those without knowledge might be misled by it. I have documented it in (Volume Five) of "al-Ṣaḥīḥah" under number (2435). May Allāh facilitate the printing of what follows by His grace and generosity, and then the sixth volume was printed, and all praise is due to Allāh.

- (Satan comes to one of you and pokes at his buttocks, so he does not turn away until he hears a sound; [or finds a smell]). It was narrated by Abū Isḥāq al-Ḥarbī in "Gharīb al-Ḥadīth" (5/98/1): Abū Muṣʿab narrated to me from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad from Thawr from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. I say: This isnād is authentic, its men are the men of "al-Ṣaḥīḥ," and Abū Muṣʿab's name is Aḥmad ibn Abī Bakr al-Zuhrī al-Madanī. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad, who is al-Darāwardī, was followed by Abū Uways, whose name is ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Uways, from Thawr ibn Zayd with a similar narration in extended form, including the addition. It was narrated by al-Bazzār in "Musnad" (1/147/281) through the route of Ismāʿīl ibn Ṣubayḥ: Abū Uways narrated it to us. Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Uways followed Ismāʿīl ibn Ṣubayḥ: My father narrated it to me; however, he added: from Thawr ibn Zayd from Dāwūd ibn al-Ḥuṣayn from ʿIkrimah
