"and it is the opinion of ʿĀʾishah, Ibn al-Zubayr, Ṭāwūs, ʿAlqamah, and Khārijah ibn Zayd ibn Thābit."

"If any man wrongfully takes a span of land, Allāh will burden him to dig it until he reaches the last of the seven earths, then he will be encircled with it until the Day of Resurrection until judgment is passed among the people." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (1167) and Aḥmad (4/173), as well as his son from Zāʾidah from al-Rabīʿ ibn ʿAbd Allāh from Ayman ibn Nābil—whom Ibn Ḥibbān said is Ibn Thābit—from Yaʿlá ibn Murrah who said: I heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say it, and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is good, its men are trustworthy and well-known except for Ayman. If he is Ibn Nābil as in "al-Musnad," he is well-known, a group has deemed him trustworthy, and al-Bukhārī narrated from him in support. And if he is Ibn Thābit as in Ibn Ḥibbān, then Abū Dāwūd said: there is no harm in him, and Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt." Two things make this more likely to me: first, that Ibn Abī Ḥātim said in his biography (1/1/319): "He narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās and Yaʿlá ibn Murrah, and from him Abū Yaʿfūr ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUbayd ibn Nistās and al-Rabīʿ ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated." Then he wrote a biography for Ayman ibn Nābil and mentioned that he narrated from Qudāmah ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Kilābī, Ṭāwūs, and others among the followers. Neither he nor anyone else mentioned that he narrated from Yaʿlá ibn Murrah, nor did they mention al-Rabīʿ ibn ʿAbd Allāh among those who narrated from him. Second, the narration of Abū Yaʿfūr from him in "al-Musnad" (4/172/173), but it appeared as "Abū Yaʿqūb," which is a scribal error, and it was also miswritten in two copies of "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" as pointed out by its editor, the scholar ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muʿallimī, in the biography of Ibn Thābit
