facilitating the benefit from "Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān" by arranging it alphabetically, and this biography is included in it. Glory be to Allāh, *"My Lord neither errs nor forgets"* (Ṭā-Hā, 52). This was transmitted by the ḥāfiẓ in "al-Lisān" (5/422-423), but he said after it: "It was mentioned earlier in the biography of (Aḥmad) that (Muḥammad) had become confused"! In the biography of (Aḥmad), it states: "Al-Ḥākim Abū Aḥmad said: I am mostly certain that I heard Abū al-Jahm, and I asked him about the condition of (Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad)? He said: He had grown old and was being prompted with what was not from his ḥadīth, and he would accept it. He died in the year 289." I said: It appears that the ḥāfiẓ made a slip of the pen, writing (Muḥammad) instead of (Aḥmad). And Allāh knows best. Furthermore, this (Aḥmad) is mentioned in "al-Mīzān" by al-Dhahabī, where he said: "He has oddities. Abū Aḥmad al-Ḥākim said: There is doubt about him, and Abū al-Jahm al-Shaʿrānī narrated falsehoods from him." Then he mentioned two ḥadīths from him. It is also astonishing how this was hidden from al-Haythamī?! All other narrators are reliable, being men of the two Shaykhs, except for (Ibrāhīm ibn Ṭarīf), who is unknown as the ḥāfiẓ said.
