"its chain of narration is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (4/149): "It was narrated by Aḥmad, Abū Yaʿlá, and al-Bazzār, and its narrators are those of the authentic collections." I said: Likewise, the narrators of al-Bazzār in one of his narrations (1941) are the same, and he has it in the first narration from the route of Bishr ibn Maʿādh al-ʿAqdī: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥarmalah narrated to us... Ibn Saʿd also included it in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (8/294): Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar informed us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar narrated to me with a more complete wording: "He forbade us from accepting a gift from a Bedouin," and he said "gift" instead of "food." However, Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar—who is al-Wāqidī—is abandoned, and the ḥāfiẓ was silent about him in "al-Iṣābah," perhaps due to Ibn Mandah's narration from the route of Abū Uways from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥarmalah with the wording: "He forbade eating what the Bedouins gift." Abū Uways, whose name is ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Uways al-Aṣbaḥī al-Madanī, is truthful but makes mistakes, and Muslim narrated from him in the supporting evidences. His narration is supported by Abū Yaʿlá's in "his Musnad" (8/209/4773) from the route of Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq from Ṣāliḥ ibn Kaysān from ʿUrwah from ʿĀʾishah who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "I do not accept a gift from a Bedouin." Then Umm Sunbulah al-Aslamiyyah brought him a container of milk as a gift... a similar ḥadīth. The ḥāfiẓ attributed it to Abū Nuʿaym and was silent about it.
