- "He forbade the price of the dog and the cat." This is from the ḥadīth of Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṣārī, and there are three chains of transmission from him: The first: Abū al-Zubayr, and it was narrated from him by four reliable narrators, although their memory was weak: The first: Muʿqil ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Jazarī from him said: I asked Jābir about the price of the dog and the cat? He said: "The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) prohibited that." It was recorded by Muslim (5/35) and al-Bayhaqī (6/10). The second: Ibn Lahīʿah: Abū al-Zubayr narrated to us, he said: I asked Jābir about the price of the dog and the cat... the ḥadīth is similar. It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/386) in this wording, and Ibn Mājah (2161) in a shortened form, and he did not mention the dog. However, Aḥmad mentioned it in another narration (3/339) and likewise al-Ṭaḥāwī in his "Sharḥ" (2/226). The third: Ḥammād ibn Salamah from him with the wording: "He forbade the price of the cat and the dog, except for a hunting dog." It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī (2/196) and he said afterwards: "It is not authentic." I say: It is as if al-Nasāʾī means the addition of "hunting dog," due to the uniqueness of Ḥammād ibn Salamah, and his contradiction to the previous chains and others that will come, and to other ḥadīths that absolutely prohibit the price of the dog, such as the ḥadīth of Abū Masʿūd al-Badrī, which is recorded in "al-Irwāʾ."
- " نهى عن ثمن الكلب والسنور ". هو من حديث جابر بن عبد الله الأنصاري، وله عنه ثلاث طرق: الأولى: أبو الزبير، ورواه عنه أربعة من الثقات على ضعف في حفظهم: الأول: معقل بن عبيد الله الجزري عنه قال: سألت جابرا عن ثمن الكلب والسنور؟ قال: " زجر النبي ﷺ عن ذلك ". أخرجه مسلم (٥ / ٣٥) والبيهقي (٦ / ١٠) . الثاني: ابن لهيعة: حدثنا أبو الزبير قال: سألت جابرا عن ثمن الكلب والسنور.. الحديث مثله. أخرجه أحمد (٣ / ٣٨٦) وهذا لفظه، وابن ماجه (٢١٦١) مختصرا، ولم يذكر الكلب. لكن ذكره أحمد في رواية أخرى (٣ / ٣٣٩) وكذا الطحاوي في " شرحه " (٢ / ٢٢٦) . الثالث: حماد بن سلمة عنه بلفظ: " نهى عن ثمن السنور والكلب، إلا كلب الصيد ". أخرجه النسائي (٢ / ١٩٦) وقال عقبه: " ليس هو بصحيح ". قلت: كأن النسائي يعني زيادة " كلب الصيد "، لتفرد حماد بن سلمة، ومخالفته للطرق المتقدمة ولغيرها مما يأتي، وللأحاديث الأخرى المحرمة لثمن الكلب تحريما مطلقا، مثل حديث أبي مسعود البدري، وهو مخرج في " الإرواء ".
