in prayer," and this necessitates prostrating on the pads of the palms, as is apparent. Ibn al-Athīr said in "al-Nihāyah": "He meant the pad of the thumb and the pad of the little finger, and it prevailed, like al-ʿUmrayn and al-Qamrayn."

"People must cease from abandoning the Friday prayers, or Allāh will seal their hearts, and then they will be among the heedless." It was recorded by Muslim (3/10), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (4/232), al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan al-Kubrā" (3/171), and Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (5/229) through various chains from Abū Tūbah: Muʿāwiyah - who is Ibn Salām - narrated to us from Zayd - meaning his brother - that he heard Abū Salām say: al-Ḥakam ibn Mināʾ told me that ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr and Abū Hurayrah heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say on the pulpit: and he mentioned it. From this route, it was also recorded by Ibn Khuzaymah in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (3/175/1855) and from his route by Ibn ʿAsākir, but there were two discrepancies in the chain: one is that they said al-Rabīʿ ibn Nāfiʿ narrated from Abū Tūbah! And this al-Rabīʿ is himself Abū Tūbah! So it appears that the word (from) was inserted by some copyists, and it seems to have been old until it reached Ibn ʿAsākir with this insertion! The other is that they mentioned (Abū Saʿīd) instead of (Ibn ʿUmar), and I do not know from whom the error is. Yaḥyá ibn Ḥassān followed him at al-Dārimī (1/368) and Ibn Shuʿayb at Ibn ʿAsākir, both from Muʿāwiyah ibn Salām with a narration similar to that of Muslim and the group. Ibn Ḥassān is among the narrators of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. Ibn Shuʿayb's name is Muḥammad ibn Shuʿayb ibn Shābūr, and he is trustworthy, so it is a strong corroboration
