that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to meet a man... the ḥadīth is similar, and he added at the end: "... so he remained silent about you." This isnād [chain of narration] consists of trustworthy men according to Muslim, except for Muʾammal, who is weak, especially when he contradicts the trustworthy narrators. The ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but poor in memory." Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (8/183): "Aḥmad narrated it, and its men are those of the authentic collections except for Muʾammal ibn Ismāʿīl, who is trustworthy but weak." Moreover, many ḥadīths have been narrated from a group of Companions on various occasions regarding his (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) saying: "How did you wake up?" from different paths that are not free from criticism. There is no need to present them, as what has been mentioned suffices. However, it is useful to point out their sources: "Muṣannaf Ibn Abī Shaybah" (11/42 and 43), "al-Sunnah" by Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim (1/180/415), "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (180-183), "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (5/156/4887), "al-Ḥilyah" (1/242), and others. The Salaf acted upon this, as indicated by the recurring reports on this matter. A group of them was extracted by Imām al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1134 and 1135), and in it (1133) is a marfūʿ ḥadīth about the Prophet's (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) response to someone who asked him: "How did you wake up?" narrated by Jābir (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu). I had mentioned it among the weak in "Sunan Ibn Mājah," then I found a corroborating narration from Abū Hurayrah, so I deemed it ḥasan due to it. Consequently, I included it in "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Adab al-Mufrad" (878/1133), which I am close to completing, if Allāh wills. Then it was published, and all praise is due to Allāh, as previously mentioned.
