Abū al-Zubayr that Jābir informed him that he said: I heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it, adding at the end: "Qutaybah said: meaning the city." I said: And he was corroborated on this addition, as Aḥmad said (3/393): Ḥasan narrated to us: Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us: Abū al-Zubayr informed us, saying: Jābir informed me that he heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "The example of the city is like a bellows, and Ibrāhīm sanctified Makkah, and I sanctify the city, and it is like Makkah, sacred is what lies between its two lava tracts and all its protected areas, no tree is to be cut from it, except if a man feeds from it, and neither the plague, if Allāh wills, nor the Dajjāl will approach it, and the angels guard it at its passes and gates." He said: And I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "It is not permissible for anyone to carry weapons in it for fighting." I said: The men of its isnād are trustworthy, the men of Muslim except for Ibn Lahīʿah, who is trustworthy, but he has poor memory, and al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (3/304): "Aḥmad narrated it, and in it is Ibn Lahīʿah, and his ḥadīth is ḥasan, though there is some discussion about it." I said: And the ḥadīth of the translation is supported by a ṣaḥīḥ isnād from him, which is Maʿqil ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Jazarī from Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir, raised with the wording: "It is not permissible for anyone to carry weapons in Makkah." Muslim reported it (4/111) and from his route al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (7/302) and Ibn Ḥibbān (3706 - al-Iḥsān)
