he said this! Then he presented some of the referenced paths, concealing the statements of the scholars who strengthened and used it as evidence. He even misled the readers into thinking that al-Bukhārī weakened it by referencing it, hiding from them that he firmly attributed it to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). "For me to sit with people who remember Allāh from the morning prayer until the sun rises is more beloved to me than freeing four descendants of Ismāʿīl. And for me to sit with people who remember Allāh from the afternoon prayer until the sun sets is more beloved to me than freeing four." It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (3667), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Duʿāʾ" (3/1638/1878), and al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (1/409/561 and 562) through the route of Mūsá ibn Khalaf from Qatādah from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is good as al-Ḥāfiẓ al-ʿIrāqī said in "Takhrīj al-Iḥyāʾ" (1/32), and its men are trustworthy. There is some discussion about Mūsá ibn Khalaf, and al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful, devout, but has mistakes." It is supported by the ḥadīth of ʿAlī ibn Zayd from Abū Ṭālib al-Ḍabīʿī from Abū Umāmah in a marfūʿ form. It was narrated by Aḥmad (5/254), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Duʿāʾ" (1882) and in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (8/317/8028), and Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (2/284). Al-Haythamī said after attributing it to Aḥmad and "al-Muʿjam" (10/104): "And its isnāds are good"!
