I said: it is similar in meaning to the saying of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): "If one of you has two garments, let him pray in them. If he has only one garment, let him wrap it around himself and not cover himself like the Jews do." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd and others with a sound chain of transmission, and it is included in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd" (645).

- "A hundred years will not pass over the people without there being a single eye on earth that blinks from those who are alive today." It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/93) and his son ʿAbd Allāh (1/140), and through his route by al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Aḥādīth al-Mukhtārah" (2/378/760), Abū Yaʿlá (1/438/584), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ" (2/59/1/5988) through various routes from Manṣūr from al-Minhāl ibn ʿAmr from Nuʿaym ibn Dajjājah who said: Abū Masʿūd ʿUqbah ibn ʿAmr al-Anṣārī entered upon ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, and ʿAlī said to him: Are you the one who says: A hundred years will not pass over the people without there being a single eye on earth that blinks? Indeed, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said:... (and he mentioned the ḥadīth), by Allāh, the hope of this ummah is after a hundred years. He was followed by Muṭarrif ibn Ṭarīf from al-Minhāl ibn ʿAmr with it. It was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (1/161) and also by Abū Yaʿlá (1/360/467), and through his route by al-Ḍiyāʾ as well (761), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (17/248/693)
