- "The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) spat on the leg of ʿAmr ibn Muʿādh when it was cut, and it healed." Narrated by Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (8/151/6475 - al-Iḥsān) and Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Maʿrifah" (2/94/1) through the route of al-Ḥusayn ibn Ḥurayth who said: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn Wāqid narrated to us, he said: my father narrated to me, he said: ʿAbdullāh ibn Buraydah narrated to me, he said: I heard my father say: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic or at least good, and it meets the criteria of Muslim, and there is some discussion about some of them which does not harm [the authenticity]. It is among the many ḥadīths where ʿAbdullāh ibn Buraydah explicitly stated that he heard from his father, so it is no wonder that the two Shaykhs used his narration from his father as evidence and included it in "al-Ṣaḥīḥayn." Thus, it is a clear refutation of those contemporaries who claimed that he and his brother Sulaymān did not hear from their father, and I have detailed the refutation and invalidation of this claim in the ḥadīth to come, numbered (2914), in a manner you will not find elsewhere. All praise is due to Allāh, by whose grace righteous deeds are completed. The ḥadīth is also attributed by al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Iṣābah" to al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "al-Aḥādīth al-Mukhtārah."
